| K-State director of bands to speak at public meeting By I-R staff Last Updated: September 17, 2009 Dr. Frank Tracz, director of bands at Kansas State University, plans to be at Ellsworth High School Sept. 16 to work with band members and give a public presentation on “How to be the Best You Can Be." Tracz will talk to students about motivation and leadership. Between 9 and 10:30 a.m., he will be at the Ellsworth Golf Course community room for the public presentation, sponsored by the Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo School District. Refreshments will be served by the Purple Power Catbackers. Tracz is professor of music and director of bands at K-State, where he coordinates the undergraduate and graduate conducting programs, teaches classes in music education and administers and guides all aspects of the K-State band program, which includes symphony, concert, university, athletic pep and marching bands. The “Pride of the Wildcat Land" Marching Band has performed at national bowl games in support of the university. Tracz holds a Doctor of Philosophy in music education from Ohio State University.
