Last Updated: September 23, 2009

The H1N1 flu virus has arrived in Ellsworth.

Two cases of the H1N1 flu have been confirmed in Ellsworth, Cathy Harshbarger, the hospital's director of nursing, reported to the Ellsworth County Medical Center board of directors, Wednesday night.

“We do have some cases of H1N1 in the community," she said.

Harshbarger said two women — a young adult and a middle-aged woman — were infected with the virus. One had to be hospitalized as a result. In addition, Harshbarger said several cases of influenza A have also been reported in Ellsworth and she is providing weekly reports to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. No other details were available.
