USD 327 students do well on state assessments
By Mark McCoy
Last Updated: September 22, 2009

Students in the Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo school district once again jumped higher than the state bar in tests administered as part of the  Kansas Computerized Assessment Measures of Academic Progress. MAP is part of the unfunded, but federally mandated federal No Child Left Behind program.

The state computes goals for each district and also compares the district to the overall state average.
Sharon Nelson, the district's coordinator of assessment testing, gave the annual report during the Sept. 8 meeting of the school board at the district office.

For the district, the AYP — Annual Yearly Progress — was 76.7 percent in reading and the students tested 92.6 percent. For math, the AYP was 70.5 percent and the students tested 85.6 percent.

To see other highlights from her detailed report, read the 9/24 I-R.
