Ellsworth boys rescued from train car
Two five-year-old Ellsworth boys were rescued from the inside of a coal car July 28 on the rairoad tracks in Ellsworth. No injuries were reported.

Area law enforcement officers investigate a shooting death Wednesday morning in Kanopolis.

Updated Thursday - Unattended death being investigated at Kanopolis

Authorities from across Ellsworth County are investigating an apparent unattended death. Leroy Bunch, 81, was found lying in the front yard of his home Wednesday at 207 East F Street in Kanopolis.

The body was covered as investigators processed the scene.

Area law enforcement officials responded to a report of a shooting at 9:56 a.m.

An autopsy is being performed on the body. Ellsworth County Sheriff Tracy Ploutz said that no further information will be released until the autopsy is completed.

The on-going investigation is being conducted by the Kanopolis Police Department and the Ellsworth County Sheriff's Department.
