Ellsworth boys rescued from train car
Two five-year-old Ellsworth boys were rescued from the inside of a coal car July 28 on the rairoad tracks in Ellsworth. No injuries were reported.

Harlan Edward Foskett Sr.
(1922-2009)

Harlan Edward Foskett Sr., 87, Lorraine, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at the Ellsworth County Medical Center.

Mr. Foskett was born Jan. 22, 1922, at Orleans, Neb., to George and Mary Williams Foskett. He moved from Ellsworth to Lorraine 30 years ago, working for Marlette Coach Co. and later Coachmen. He was a U.S. Army veteran with the rank of sergeant first class and service in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Nazarene Church, Kingman.

He married Goldie Faye Foiles Dec. 13, 1953, at Great Bend. She died Nov. 22, 2007.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Savage and Julia Parker; and a granddaughter, Kandy White.
Survivors include six sons, Harlan Foskett Jr. of Amarillo, Texas, Gary Foskett of Sterling, Michael Foskett of Kingman, Randall “Red" Foskett of Lyons, Keith Foskett of Lorraine and Stanley Foskett of Bazine; two daughters, Deborah Berends of Great Bend and Sharon White of Lorraine; a brother, Warren Foskett of Raymore, Mo.; a sister, Emma Brooks of Independence, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, the Rev. George Redington officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery North, with military honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Sunflower Diversified Services, in care of the funeral home.
