Ellsworth boys rescued from train car
Two five-year-old Ellsworth boys were rescued from the inside of a coal car July 28 on the rairoad tracks in Ellsworth. No injuries were reported.

Wilson celebrates its 50th annual festival this year. The festival continues Saturday, July 30, and include a large parade and many other activities.



 
L. Lagatha Blank

     LORRAINE - L. Lagatha Blank, 86, died Jan. 1, 2010 in Ellsworth.
     She was born April 15, 1923 in
Arpelar, Okla. to James M. and Eula Donaldson Gifford. A Holyrood and Lorraine area resident since 1951, she was a homemaker and a cook and  bus driver for the Lorraine and Quivira Heights schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lorraine.
     On Jan. 24, 1943, she married John L. Blank in Rice County. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1989.  
     Survivors include daughters Sheryl Katzenmeier and Billie Jean Pedigo, both of Ellsworth and Delores Graf, Granger, Iowa; seven grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
     Visitation will be 1-8 p.m., Tuesday with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Parsons Funeral Home,
Ellsworth and 2-3 p.m. Wednesday
at the First Baptist Church, Lorraine.
     Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6 at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the Lorraine  Baptist Cemetery Perpetual  Care Fund, in c/o Parsons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 45, Ellsworth, Ks. 67439.
